AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects more than 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet our country’s critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment.
AmeriCorps members serve with more than 2,000 nonprofit's, public agencies, and faith-based and community organizations. Since 1994, more than 400,000 men and women have provided needed assistance to millions of Americans across the nation through their AmeriCorps service.
Earn and Learn
After satisfactorily completing a 30 day probation period, Corps members may join the AmeriCorps Educational Award program whereby they can earn after 900 hour or 1700 hours $2,350 and $4,725 respectively in educational grants for tuition to any accredited college or trade school. Upon successful completion of your term of service as a Montgomery County Conservation Corps/AmeriCorps member, you are eligible for an education award to help pay for authorized educational expenses or to repay qualified student loans. The National Service Trust ("the Trust") administers the award. The Trust is a fund established by Congress that is used to pay for education awards and interest that accrues on qualified student loans for those who have completed approved terms of service. This information can be found on the AmeriCorps web site at: http://www.americorps.gov/for_individuals/benefits/benefits_ed_award.asp
The amount of the education award depends on the length of your term of service.
